I bought a “Miso Potato Sandwich” made with Hatcho miso from the food truck “Koko Coffee” at the plaza in front of the Nishinasuno Government Building!
“Coco Coffee,” a food truck run by an owner from Aichi Prefecture, operating out of a black car with Nagoya license plates.
I’d heard from a friend that the “Miso Potato Sandwich” was delicious, and I’d been curious about it for a while.
I happened to see them setting up shop at the plaza in front of the Nishinasuno Government Building this time, so I stopped by.

Review of my actual experience visiting
After passing along Prefectural Route 306, a black car was parked in front of the Nishinasuno Government Building plaza.
I wondered what kind of food truck it was today, but when I got closer, it was “Koko Coffee.”

Ordered Menu and Price
I was tempted by the coffee, but since I’d already bought some at the convenience store, I didn’t order any this time.
I ordered only the “Miso Potato Sandwich,” which I’d been curious about for a while.

About taste

Just like the name says, it’s a miso × cheese × potato sandwich.
Hatcho miso* is spread on the bread, then layered with cheese and mayo-seasoned potatoes, and grilled until golden.
To be honest, I was a bit unsure what it would taste like before taking a bite—but one bite was enough to convince me.
This is so good!
The toasted bread is nice and fragrant, with the deep, savory richness of miso slowly spreading through each bite.
Then comes the creamy, melty cheese, followed by the fluffy texture of the potatoes and the richness of the mayo, which ties everything together beautifully.
- Japanese-style miso
- Western-style cheese & potatoes
It’s an unexpected combo, but they don’t clash at all—in fact, they work surprisingly well together.
Before I knew it, I was quietly eating the whole thing without stopping.
A little addictive, and a perfect example of Japanese–Western fusion.
*Hatcho miso is a dark, rich Japanese miso made from 100% soybeans. It has a deep, savory, slightly bitter flavor and is much less sweet than most other miso, which makes it great for hearty dishes and grilled foods.
The atmosphere and service of food trucks
The shop owner is a young man in his early thirties.
He is a great conversationalist, with a touch of self-deprecation, but they’re very easy to get along with.
I was able to enjoy myself even while waiting for the sandwiches to be made.
Features & Usability of Koko coffee
Here’s a quick look at the dining scenes and facilities at Koko coffee.
Recommended for different occasions
The stall at Nishinasuno Government Building Plaza is only open for two hours from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, so it’s perfect for lunch.
Since it takes about 10 minutes to grill the sandwiches, people on their lunch break should plan to visit with plenty of time to spare.
