“fil ice cream & coffee,” an ice cream and coffee shop about a 10-minute walk from Kuroiso Station.
They serve plant-based ice cream made with ingredients sourced from around Kuroiso.
While scrolling through Instagram, I saw a post about their cookie sandwich ice cream.
Since I was in the mood for dessert after my lunch, I decided to visit.

Review of my actual experience visiting
The decorative rafters create a beautiful and striking exterior.

They offer ice cream, coffee, tea, crème brûlée, and more.

They announce their ice cream flavors on Instagram Reels on business days.
Ordered Menu and Price
- Cookie sandwich ice cream (Fig & Caramel, 480 JPY)
- Hand drip coffee (HOT, 500 JPY)
- Ice cream double (550 JPY)
Cookie sandwich ice cream
The crispy rice-flour cookie, the sweetness of the caramel ice cream, and the slight tartness of the fig jam all worked really well together.
It also paired surprisingly nicely with the Ethiopian coffee I’ll mention later.

Hand drip coffee
This time I ordered the “Ethiopian Light Roast.”
Its fruity aroma and acidity pair perfectly with sweets!

Ice cream double
I went with black sesame and sweet potato.
The nutty sesame flavor and the rich milk base were amazing, and the sweet potato one tasted so much like a real baked potato that I almost forgot it was ice cream.
Both flavors really showcased the quality of the ingredients.

Atmosphere & Vibe
When you step inside, you’ll find the register and the tubs of bulk ice cream right in front of you, with eat-in seating on both the left and right.
There were also terrace seats outside.
The wooden interior is filled with soft natural light, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

The shop seems to be run by a husband and wife—the husband handles the coffee, and the wife takes care of the ice cream.
Both of them greeted customers with such warm smiles that it made the whole place feel welcoming, and I ended up having a really pleasant, comfortable time there.
Features & Usability of fil ice cream & coffee

If you’re just getting ice cream or coffee, takeout is probably best; if you’re having both, then dine-in might be better.
