I stopped by the crêpe food truck “Bretagne” at the plaza in front of the Nishinasuno Government Building and bought a “Chocolate Banana Whip” and a “Caramel Nut Whip.”

The birthplace of crêpes, Bretagne, France.

A crêpe food truck named after that region, the “Bretagne,” was set up in front of the Nishinasuno Government Building plaza, so I stopped by.

Review of my actual experience visiting

On my way to the Nishinasuno library, I learned that “Bretagne” was holding a pop-up event, so I stopped by on my way back after returning the books.

Ordered Menu and Price

I was really craving something sweet, so I ordered two.

  • Chocolate Banana Whip (500 JPY)
  • Caramel Nut Whip (500 JPY)

She said I could customize the toppings, but this time I stuck with the menu.

Chocolate Banana Whip

First up is the classic chocolate banana whip.

The batter is subtly sweet with a pleasantly chewy texture.

The natural sweetness of the banana and the chocolate’s perfectly balanced bitterness create a harmonious blend that never feels cloying, right to the last bite.

The whipped cream is also lightly sweetened, giving the whole dessert a light impression.

It’s a classic, but reliably satisfying—a comforting treat that makes you think, “This is the one!”

Caramel Nut Whip

Next up is caramel nut whipped cream.

This crepe also features a slightly sweet, chewy texture.

It’s enhanced with the rich sweetness of caramel sauce and the crunchy texture and nutty aroma of nuts.

The sweetness is substantial, delivering satisfaction with every bite.

It’s an irresistible treat for those with a sweet tooth, making it the perfect crepe when you want to fully enjoy a dessert experience.

The atmosphere and service of food trucks

While I was looking at the menu and trying to decide, the owner greeted me with a cheerful “Hello!”

When I asked about the items, they explained everything to me very clearly.

It took about 2 minutes for the crepes to be ready after I ordered (4-5 minutes since I ordered two).

She also provides takeout bags, so even if you buy multiple crepes, carrying them isn’t a problem.

Features & Usability of Bretagne

Here’s a quick look at the dining scenes and facilities at Bretagne.

Recommended for different occasions

The Nishinasuno Government Building Plaza opens at noon, making it perfect for dessert after lunch or a 3 PM snack*.

Depending on the day, they stay open until 6:30 PM, so you can stop by for a treat after work.

*In Japan, we have this idea of “3 p.m. snack time”—a little treat in the afternoon, often sweets, just to take a break and refresh.
