“Milk no Mori,” a long-established sandwich shop in Nasushiobara City. A story about visiting the food truck run by its 80-year-old grandmother owner who keeps taking on new challenges.
“Milk no Mori,” a long-established sandwich shop in Nishi-mishima, is a popular sandwich specialty store with over 50 years of history.
Currently, they mainly sell from a food truck and at local events, and they also set up shop in front of the Nishinasuno Government Building.
I happened to see them set up while returning from the Nishinasuno library, so I stopped by.

Review of my actual experience visiting
Walking around to the front of the food truck, the first thing that caught my eye was the storefront banner introducing the owner and the egg sandwich.

Still working at 80 is amazing, isn’t it?
Ordered Menu and Price
She has been selling hamburgers, casquettes (baguette sandwiches), soup, lemonade, and more.
This time, I ordered one hamburger and one casquette.
- Scrambled Egg Burger (800 JPY)
- Yannym*
- Nasuno Goyou Egg Sandwich (700 JPY)**
*For hamburgers, I can choose my sauce from tomato, yannym, or honey mustard.
**In the Nasu area, a premium brand of eggs was developed to provide consistently high-quality eggs, and they’re called “Goyouran.” The name is likely a play on words. Since the area is known for having an Imperial villa (“Nasu Goyoutei”), the word “Goyou” echoes that image of prestige and quality.
About taste and portion size
First I ate the hamburger, then the egg sandwich.
Scrambled Egg Burger
The ingredients were onion, cheese, pickles, hamburger patty, lettuce, and scrambled eggs.

The sweet and savory yannym sauce paired perfectly with the rich flavor of the scrambled eggs!
The hamburger patty was juicy, and the occasional tang of pickles was nice too.
It was a substantial portion—enough to fill someone with a small appetite.
Nasuno Goyou Egg Sandwich
Crispy on the outside, hard and chewy on the inside—a baguette packed with egg salad!

I could really taste the richness and sweetness of the eggs, and the occasional hint of black pepper was also nice.
The atmosphere and service of food trucks
While I was looking at the menu, the owner greeted me with a cheerful “Hello.”
She’s a friendly, playful grandmother who chats with customers even while cooking.
When I saw the shop banner and asked, “Are you 80 years old?”, she smiled and replied, “I recently turned 81.”
She carried no trace of negativity about her age, appearing younger and more energetic than her years.
People who keep challenging themselves often leave a positive impression.
Towards the end of cooking, she asked, “Eating here right away? Or taking it to go?”
When I replied, “Taking it to go,” she happily handed me a bag for easy carrying.
