Includes a tea-making experience! I picked up some Uji matcha latte and Hojicha latte to go from “yamasan-chaten,” located near Nishinasuno Station.
“yamasan-chaten,” a 4-minute walk from the West Exit of Nishinasuno Station
This is a long-established tea shop with a 70-year history.
Since it was participating in the “Town Tour Digital Stamp Rally” (March 2–29, 2026), I decided to stop by.

Review of my actual experience visiting
The store is located along Prefectural Route 317 (Goken-cho Street).

Ordered Menu and Price
I ordered the Uji matcha latte and the Hojicha (roasted green tea) latte.
- Uji matcha latte (Unsweetened*, 400 JPY)
- Hojicha latte (Unsweetened*, 400 JPY)
*Gum syrup is available upon request
By the way, “Uji matcha” is a high-quality Japanese powdered green tea from the Uji region (Kyoto, Nara, Shiga, Mie). Unlike regular green tea, you drink the whole tea leaf, which gives it a rich, deep flavor and a smooth, slightly bitter taste.
And “Hojicha” is roasted green tea from Japan, known for its toasty aroma and low bitterness.
Uji matcha latte
It was ready about 10 minutes after I placed my order.
The reason it took a while is that the experience includes a matcha making experience.
You can also experience making your own matcha here.

I poured matcha and hot water into a special bowl and whisked it with a tea whisk, moving my wrist from side to side.
I’d seen it on TV and such, but it’s actually quite difficult to do.
I took it to go and walked to the station while sipping it.

The rich, astringent and slightly bitter notes of the matcha really come through—it definitely feels like a matcha latte from a specialty tea shop!
The natural sweetness of the milk made it delicious on its own.
Hojicha latte
Later, I felt like trying the “Hojicha Latte,” so I went back.
This time, the visit also included a hands-on experience making hojicha.

The experience itself was the same as with the matcha, but the aroma was completely different!
I could really savor the toasty flavor, and I felt satisfied even before taking a sip.
I got it to go again this time and walked to the station while sipping it.

With the aromatic scent of hojicha and the sweetness and richness of the milk, it really feels like a Japanese-style milk tea.
The aftertaste was very refreshing.
The atmosphere inside
When I walked in, I was surprised to find no one there (lol).

When I said, “Hello~,” the owner came out from the back!
It seemed he was just taking his lunch break.
He was a cheerful guy with a wonderful smile.
I sat on a chair and waited for my order to be ready, and he chatted with me the whole time.
