I had dinner at Komatsu Shokudo, a restaurant and izakaya just a 2-minute walk from Nishinasuno Station. Their “Spicy in a delicious way Yakisoba” was so good I couldn’t stop eating.

Review of my actual experience visiting
Upon entering, the proprietress asked me, “Would you like some sake?”
The menu you receive differs slightly depending on whether you choose to drink or not.
Ordered Menu and Price
There are so many menu items that we can’t possibly cover them all.
There was also a great deal called the “Light Drinking 3-Drink Set.”
But this time, I was in the mood to focus on eating, so I had just one drink.
- Otoshi* (300 JPY)
- Lemon, Shochu, and Soda (550 JPY)
- Spicy in a delicious way Yakisoba (Regular size, 600 JPY)
- Oden set (770 JPY)
- Grilled rice ball, 1 piece (with wakame soup, 350 JPY)
*Otoshi is a small appetizer that automatically comes with your table at an izakaya. It’s like a cover charge that comes with food.
Otoshi
The Otoshi was koya-dofu oden.
Koya-dofu is a traditional Japanese food—freeze-dried tofu that soaks up broth really well.
It was fully infused with dashi, and every bite felt warm and comforting, especially on a cold day.

Spicy in a delicious way Yakisoba
It uses medium-thick noodles, and the sauce really clings to them, so you get a bold, satisfying flavor from the very first bite.
The spice level is mildly spicy—not overpowering at all—so it’s easy to enjoy.
With the rich sauce and gentle heat working together, I found myself unable to stop eating.

Oden set
There were five types.
- Kombu
- Chikuwa
- Daikon
- Konnyaku
- Satsuma-age

A clear broth that highlights the dashi flavor, with a slightly lighter seasoning.
It offers a light and refined taste.
Grilled rice ball
Since I was feeling a bit peckish, I ordered grilled rice balls as a final dish.

The toasty aroma of soy sauce hitted me the moment it arrives, instantly kicking up my appetite.
It’s a simple grilled rice ball with no fillings inside, but that’s exactly what makes it great.
With every bite, I really taste the savory soy sauce and the natural sweetness of the rice.
There’s nothing extra going on, just pure, comforting flavor—perfect as a finishing dish.
The set comes with a wakame seaweed soup, which adds a nice, soothing touch too.
The atmosphere inside
They have counter seats, table seats, and tatami rooms.

The floor manager was the proprietress, while a young woman handled payments—roles were clearly defined.
Orders were written on paper and handed over, though drinks could be ordered verbally.
If you ask the proprietress about the dishes, she’ll explain them to you in detail.
