Meat Shop Kanazawa Main Store is a 5-minute walk from Kuroiso Station.
This is a long-established butcher shop founded in 1912.

The shop is located along Prefectural Route 55 (near Tantan-tei).
Ordered Menu and Price
The selection of fried foods changes daily, but this time there were various fried items.
I bought four fried items from this selection.
- Jumbo menchi（160 JPY）
- Fried horse mackerel（210 JPY）
- Fried fish（170 JPY）
- Tofu croquettes（160 JPY）
Jumbo menchi
When I come to this shop, I absolutely can’t miss the jumbo menchi!
Their menchi-katsu, made with a blend of Tochigi Wagyu beef and Nasuno pork, deliver a satisfyingly meaty texture.
The onions are chopped into large pieces, allowing their sweetness to shine through.
While it’s undoubtedly better warm, I think it’s delicious even when cooled.
Fried horse mackerel
Crispy coating and fluffy texture.
This contrast is truly appealing, isn’t it?
No fishy smell!
I enjoyed it with tartar sauce.
Fried fish
This is fried cod.
This was also crispy coating and fluffy texture.
It’s light but packed with flavor.
I topped it with tartar sauce and enjoyed it on a bun I bought separately at the supermarket.
Tofu croquettes
The outside was crispy, the inside was fluffy, and I could taste a gentle sweetness.
When I cut it open, I found carrots and green peas inside, making it very colorful.
It’s lighter than potato croquettes and delicious even without sauce.
But I felt it was more suited as a snack than as a side dish with rice.
The atmosphere & service
While I was debating which fried food to buy, a store clerk came over to help me.
When I told her, “I’ve decided on the jumbo menchi…” she suggested things like, “The fish options were delicious too,” or “If you like tofu, how about the tofu croquette?”

Right after opening, they haven’t started frying yet; they begin around 11:30.

From Kuroiso Station (West Exit), take the left-side exit, turn right, and walk straight ahead.
Cross the pedestrian crossing in front of the Kuroiso Station police box.
Turn right, and cross the pedestrian crossing again, then turn left – just past Kisoba Fuyou, go straight ahead.
After passing Tantan-tei, cross the crosswalk and turn right immediately.
