I stopped by “Sato Butcher Shop,” where you can enjoy freshly fried foods, and picked up some “Plum and Shiso Chicken Rolls,” “Stuffed Lotus Root Fritters,” “Cheese Sandwich Ham-katsu,” and “Three-Cheese in Menchi-katsu.”
“Sato Butcher Shop,” a 12-minute walk from the West Exit of Nishinasuno Station
This shop in the northern part of Tochigi prefecture specializes in livestock products and homemade prepared foods, and they fry their fried foods to order.
Since it was a participating shop in the “Digital Stamp Rally (March 2–29, 2026),” I went there.

Review of my actual experience visiting
They had an extensive selection of fried foods, with as many as 18 varieties.
It seems the selection changes from day to day, but even on days with a smaller selection, they reportedly offer at least 14 varieties.
Ordered Menu and Price
This time, I chose the following four types.
- Plum and Shiso Chicken Rolls (180 JPY)
- Stuffed Lotus Root Fritters (150 JPY)
- Cheese Sandwich Ham-katsu (140 JPY)
- Three-Cheese in Menchi-katsu (198 JPY)
Since these were freshly fried, the batter on everything was nice and crispy!

Plum and Shiso Chicken Rolls
I’ve seen them sandwiched before, but this might be the first time I’ve seen them rolled up.

Since the fillings are wrapped inside, it was moist, and I really enjoyed how well the ingredients blended together.

The tartness of the plum paste and the flavor of the shiso made it a refreshing dish.
Stuffed Lotus Root Fritters
It was so thick that it was hard to hold with chopsticks.

The crisp texture of the lotus root and the juicy, savory flavor of the meat are a perfect match!

It was the kind of dish I could eat as many as I wanted until I was full.
Cheese Sandwich Ham-katsu
It was thinner than I expected, which was a bit disappointing.
I was sure it would be sandwiched between thick slices of ham.

It’s not very filling, but the cheese melts in my mouth when I bite into it.
Cheese and ham are a perfect match!
Three-Cheese in Menchi-katsu
This one was thick too, so it was hard to pick up with chopsticks.

Juicy meat juices and rich cheese oozing from the inside—what a perfect harmony♪
This is the quintessential “crispy on the outside, tender on the inside” dish!

Thanks to the savory flavor of the meat and the rich taste of the cheese, it was delicious even without sauce.
The atmosphere inside
Inside the store, there was a meat section, a prepared foods section, a refrigerated section, and a snack section.

Since the items were displayed uncooked (raw) inside the case, at first I mistakenly thought I was supposed to fry them myself at home (lol).
When I asked the shop owner, he replied with a smile, “As long as it’s within the ‘freshly fried’ time frame, just let us know and we’ll fry them up right away.”
I placed my order right away, and the owner said, “I’ll go fry them up!” and headed into the kitchen.
About 10 minutes after ordering, the freshly fried food arrived!
I paid the bill while enjoying the fragrant aroma of the freshly fried food.
You can also purchase plastic bags, so there’s no need to worry if you’re heading somewhere else.
- Small: 3 JPY
- Medium: 4 JPY
- Big: 5 JPY

Recommended for different occasions
If you’re planning to buy fried foods, I recommend visiting during “freshly fried time”!
Eating them fresh off the fryer is the best way to enjoy them piping hot and juicy.
Even if they cool down, you can just heat them up in the microwave, so they’re also a great choice to buy for lunch or dinner!
