Vegetable Tempura Cold Soba @ Soba & Udon Kadoya near Nishinasuno Station
Just a 3-minute walk from Nishinasuno Station, Kadoya is a well-known soba and udon spot that’s even been featured on TV.
Their specialty is “tsuke soba/udon,” where you dip cold noodles into warm broth—a style locals love.
It’s an easy place to drop by whether you’re dining solo or with family.

Review of my actual experience visiting
I apologize for not being able to create an English version, but the menu looks like this.

Ordered Menu and Price
Medium Bowl of Vegetable Tempura Cold Soba (¥950)

About taste and portion size
The dipping sauce, made with bonito broth, has a sweet-and-salty flavor that pairs perfectly with the soba.

The noodles are “inaka soba,” which are made from coarsely ground buckwheat flour that still contains the husk, giving them a thicker, darker appearance.

They have a firm bite and plenty of substance, and the aroma gently spreads in your mouth.

The kakiage (vegetable tempura) softens as it soaks in the broth, giving it a different but fun texture compared to the usual crunch.
For an extra 50 yen, you can even order it on the side to keep it crispy.
The spicy bean sprouts on the side were a nice touch too—perfect as a little break between bites.
Since the broth is on the strong side, adding soba-yu (the hot water used to cook the soba) makes it easy to enjoy until the very last drop.

The regular serving is 200g, medium is 300g, and large is 400g.
I went for the medium this time, and it was plenty filling.
Considering the generous portion and great taste, I’d say it’s excellent value for the price!
The atmosphere inside
When you step inside, you’ll find counter seats in the center, table seating on the left, and a tatami area in the back right.

I went on a weekday right around lunchtime, so the place was pretty lively.
The counter seats face each other but are divided by clear acrylic panels.
Since the spacing is generous, you can still enjoy your meal comfortably—but because the panels are transparent, you might occasionally make eye contact with the person sitting across from you.
Once I sat down at the counter, the staff brought over a storage box for my bag along with some water.
After I placed my order, the cold vegetable kakiage soba arrived in about five minutes.
A minute or two later, they also brought out the soba-yu (hot soba water) so I could finish the meal in the traditional way.
