I had lunch at “Takekiyo Shokudo” near Nishinasuno Station. I ordered the “Thick Chashu & Chicken Karaage Set Meal” The sweet-salty & rich flavor was insanely delicious!
Takekiyo Shokudo, a 5-minute walk from the west exit of Nishinasuno Station.
This popular diner is famous for its generous portions of thick-cut chashu pork.
I’d been curious about it after seeing posts on social media, so I stopped by after finishing some errands around the station.

Review of my actual experience visiting
I heard from a friend that it’s often fully booked between noon and 13:00, so I entered the diner around 13:30.
The previous customers were just leaving, so the restaurant was empty.

Ordered Menu and Price
After taking a seat and glancing at the menu, everything looked delicious!
There was also a drink menu and a takeout menu.
This time, I ordered the “Thick Chashu & Chicken Karaage” set meal, which was recommended for first-time visitors.

About taste and portion size
Inside the diner, a recording of a famous Japanese gourmet drama was playing.
I waited about ten minutes from ordering to receiving my bowl, watching the show.
What surprised me when the meal set arrived was the sheer volume!

I’d heard it was generous portions, but it was more than I imagined.
The chashu and fried chicken, drenched in sauce, really whetted my appetite.

True to its name “thick-cut chashu,” I’d say it was about 3 to 4 centimeters thick.

It was so big I thought, “Do I need a knife and fork?” but it was so tender it fell apart easily with chopsticks.

The rich, sweet-and-spicy flavor was incredibly delicious on its own, but adding Japanese mustard made it absolutely amazing!

The sauce had really soaked into the fried chicken.

The garlic flavor came through beautifully, and it paired perfectly with rice.
The shredded cabbage had dressing on it, but dipping it in the chashu sauce was delicious too.

The atmosphere inside
There were counter seats and table seats, and it felt spacious enough to accommodate about 15 to 20 people.
I could sit wherever I like, and water is self-serve.
The atmosphere was like a neighborhood diner, with a homey feel.
The staff seemed a bit tired, but they were polite and attentive.
